Our Story

In 1904, Mons Anson and his wife Ellen, both first generation Swedish immigrants, moved from Illinois to Svea, MN. They moved with their four children, Carl, Aaron, Anna, and Emma. The farm site they purchased was what would someday become Schueler farms.

Of the four children, the youngest, Emma was the only one to marry. She married a young, local farmer named Oscar Johnson in 1912, at the age of 25. They lived on and worked land a few miles from the farm site that Mons purchased. They had a daughter named Irma in 1917.

In 1937, Irma married another young, local farmer, this time of German descent, by the name of Oscar Schueler. Oscar Schueler purchased the farm site that Mons Anson had purchased way back in 1904 from Mons's son Carl, who had inherited the land from his father but had no children to pass it down to.

Oscar and Irma Schueler had 8 children, the 4th and 7th of which were sons by the names of Sherman and Kevin. Sherman served in the US Navy for 13 years as a naval aviator, serving during the Vietnam War. He returned to the farm in 1972 with his wife Karen, where they had their two children, Andrea and Mitchell. Kevin was attending college in Willmar, MN when Oscar had a heart attack, so Kevin took over the running of the family farm. He married his wife, Patti in 1974 and had two daughters, Kristi and Amber. Kevin lives on the original farm site to this day, and Sherman purchased another site, only a mile to the southeast of the original site.

After 9 years of active-duty service in the United States Navy, Mitchell moved back to the local area, and eventually to a farm site half a mile south of the original site purchased by Mons Anson, where he and his wife Emily raised his four children, Ayden, Aubrey, Abram, and Abbott. He continues his service in the Naval Reserves. His eldest son, Ayden, served in the United States Air Force for 3 years as an AGR (active guard reserve), before returning to the farm in January 2026 to work for Schueler Farms. He continues his military service as a traditional Air National Guardsman.

Ayden has two children by the names of Thaddeus and Kelilah, who will have the privilege of growing up on the same farm that their great-great-great-great grandfather Mons Anson moved his family to in 1904.

Why Organic?

We believe that the very best food products are produced according to the design of creation, not in spite of it.

We choose to produce our crops organically, avoiding the use of pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic fertilizers, because we believe that working within the natural order rather than forcing higher yields at the expense of health and safety will be the future of agriculture.

We value the health of our customers, and the ecosystem around the land that we have been blessed with, and that permeates every aspect of our operation.

Each of our processes to produce crops is carefully curated to pack our products with the very best nutritional value, and none of the nasty add-ins so typical in our modern food. We are seeking to prove that organic, regenerative agriculture is a better way to farm, eat, and live.

We believe that the future of agriculture is:
